What happens on Sundays?
In the mornings we meet at 9 and then again at 10.15
At 9am it’s more traditional and quieter in format and almost always
includes celebrating Communion together. This service lasts about 45 minutes.
At 10.15am things get more lively.
This is the best service to come to if you are new to St. John’s or to church generally. There will be people present at all stages of their faith journey, some are agnostic, some are finding out more about Jesus, right up to those who have been followers of Jesus for many years.
The service usually lasts about 80 minutes and refreshments are available in church afterwards. We usually celebrate communion twice a month and on the first Sunday of each month all age groups worship together.
During the 10.15am service (apart from the first Sunday of the month)
the children & young people (aged up to 13) are encouraged to join in with their own groups, known as Ngage. Now the building project is underway these groups meet in St. John’s Primary School and you can find out more about these groups here. We do also have a group for teenagers, known as Impact, which meets on Thursday evenings at 8pm, usually at St. Alban’s, Park Road.
We also meet on Sunday evenings at 4.30pm (our Winter meeting time) when there is café-style worship & teaching at St. Alban’s, Park Road. Most people who come to this are already followers of Jesus. This will revert to a 6.30pm starting time once the clocks change again in March.
Finally we also have a midweek service. This takes place at 10am on Thursdays at St. Alban’s, Park Road and it’s followed by refreshments. The service doesn’t usually run in school holidays.
