Go out for the night with people from work, stand in a bus queue, wander round the shops, cheer on Stalybridge Celtic… and you can be pretty confident that most people around you aren’t going to be discussing their purchase of the latest Hillsongs album, what they thought of the sermon last Sunday or which friend they’d like to invite to the next curry evening. Imagine how most of them would react if you strolled over and asked if they could explain what your bible reading notes were on about this morning or to pray for the difficult meeting you’ve got at work tomorrow.

There is a solution. (fanfare…) Housegroups.
When do they meet? We have 12 groups meeting through the week on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday evenings and there’s also two meeting during the day - one on Tuesday mornings and another on Friday lunchtimes (this one includes the possibility of a crèche if you’re caring for a small child during the day).

But I don’t know enough. Don’t be put off; housegroups aren’t for superholy megachristians but for ‘ordinary’ people who want to follow Jesus but still have lots of questions about how to do it. If you don’t always pray as much as you’d like, sometimes have to read a bit of the bible again and again before it makes sense and find life still has a ‘few’ problems from time to time, then housegroups are for you.

Why join one? Housegroups give you a chance to get to know a few people better, to learn with them what it means to grow more like Jesus and to support one another through the ups and downs of ordinary life.
