We have an increasing number of links with our local community and since September 2007 have had a Community Pastor, Theo Knight who heads up this area of ministry.
Toddler Group
This runs in the Church Hall next to Church on Tuesdays beginning at 1pm and everyone looking after pre-school children is welcome to bring them along, parent, grandparents, carers…
St. John’s Community Care Home Group
We have a group of volunteers who go into some of our local care homes once a month to take services there.The team also meet up regularly to prepare and run other special events for people resident in these local homes.
St. Alban’s Project
This is based at St. Alban’s, Park Road. The project opens weekly on Saturdays and aims to provide companionship and a place to go for local people in need who are categorised as homeless or who are vulnerable in other ways. Tea, coffee and sandwiches are provided each week, and a full hot meal once a month. We work in conjunction with members of other local churches, particularly City on a Hill, Stalybridge
Drug Proof Your Kids
An informal 6 week course designed for parents who want to help their children make safe and informed choices as they become more independent. It is particularly useful for parents of year 6 & 7 pupils. Courses run at regular intervals.
Mountain Bike Motivation
A group working with young people. The group started partly in response to young people who claimed there was nothing to do other than hang around the streets. The group meets most Saturdays and is for all ages. For more details see their own website at http://www.mbmotivation.co.uk/index.html
